Family Dentistry

The key to a great and healthy smile is regular checkups!

Consistent office visits have been shown to be the best prevention for dental decay, gum disease, and other problems that may arise.

Through regular cleanings and checkups, unexpected expenses can often be avoided. We recommend 2 visits per year for children and 2 to 4 visits per year for adults. During your regularly scheduled visits, we will evaluate your current state of dental health through examination of your teeth, gums, and jaws as well as through X-rays. We offer preventative services such as dental sealants, oral cancer screening, and non-surgical treatment of gum disease.

Let our family take care of your family.

In family dentistry, the long-lasting relationships we build with our patients form the heart of our practice and bring us our greatest rewards. We welcome working with all members of the family, from a child arriving for a first visit to routine preventative or restorative care for teens, Mom, Dad, or the grandparents. We want every visit for every member of your family to be a pleasant and positive experience.

Periodontics

As a specialty, periodontics, is concerned with the gum and bone surrounding your teeth (referred to as soft and hard tissue). In addition to the treatment of gum disease, you may also be referred to a periodontal specialist for the placement of dental implants or gum & bone contouring for aesthetic or functional reasons.

Dental Implants

Although there are several different procedures for replacing teeth, dental implants are the most natural replacement for missing teeth. They do not require alterations in adjacent teeth, and the dental implant post stimulates your jawbone in the same way as your natural teeth. The leads to less bone loss and preserves a younger facial appearance.
Cosmetic & Restorative

Teeth Whitening

We offer several techniques for eliminating discoloration to give you a brighter, more attractive smile. Our doctors are committed to helping you choose the best option for your personal situation. Some cases that are not appropriate for whitening procedures can be effectively treated with restorative options.
Zoom! Teeth Whitening
Most often, stains have gotten deep below the outermost layer of the tooth. Zoom! Whitening uses light treatment to remove the deeply rooted stains and restore your teeth to their natural white color. Over-the-counter products, such as whitening toothpastes, remove only surface stains. On average, Zoom lightens the shade of your teeth by 8 shades in just one hour.
At-Home Whitening (Bleaching)
With tray bleaching, your dentist will fit a tray to your bite, and provide you with a mild whitening gel. Over a course of weeks or months, you regularly apply the gel to your teeth using the tray.

In rare instances, some patients experience gum sensitivity or discomfort in response to the gel.
Crest Whitestrips Supreme
Crest Whitestrips Supreme is not the same product that you can but at your local pharmacy. It has a higher percentage of whitening product, and can be recommended at your dentist’s discretion.

Rather than a tray with gel, whitestrips are sticky strips that adhere directly to the teeth.

Veneers

Porcelain Veneers
To begin fitting you with veneers, the enamel of the teeth may need to be slightly reduced using a buffing method. The teeth are very minimally reduced, usually between 0.5mm and 1.0mm. An impression of the area is taken, which will be sent to a dental laboratory to construct the veneers. You will be fitted with temporary veneers until your final restoration is completed.

Next, your dentist will carefully check the completed veneers for proper color matching and fit.

During the final placement of the veneers, a substance will first be applied to the teeth that will strengthen the bond between the cement and the tooth. Next, the final veneers are carefully bonded to the teeth using a strong adherent. This bond is solidified by treating the area with a laser, or strong light.
Composite Veneers
Composite veneers can be applied during a single office visit. After careful discussion of desired results and options for treatment, your dentist will help you choose the correct color for your veneer.

Next, the resin will be directly applied to your teeth and carefully sculpted into the desired shape. The area is then treated to solidify the bond between the tooth and the veneer.
CEREC Single Visit Porcelain Veneers
At our Waltham location, we are proud to have CEREC One-Visit-Dentistry technology available for our porcelain veneers. The procedure is similar to that used with traditional porcelain veneers, with the exception of the digital impression and on-site fabrication of the final restoration.

Crowns

When decay or damage to the surface of a tooth becomes significant, the recommended treatment option for saving the tooth is the placement of a dental crown.

With a dental crown, the damaged tooth structure is reduced and a custom-made tooth (or “crown”) is bonded to its surface. Crowns are also often used to anchor dental bridges — structures that replace missing teeth. When damage to the tooth extends to the foundation (root) of the tooth, a bridge or dental implant may be a better solution. We will discuss your options for restorations with you after your initial examination.
CEREC One Visit Dentistry
Available at our Waltham location, CEREC uses computer-assisted design (CAD) along with computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) in a revolutionary new process that can generally be completed in about an hour. This technology is used “chairside” which means everything is done by us while you are with us at the office. The ceramic restorations that are tailor made for you are metal free and colored to match the natural appearance of your teeth. The result is a tooth restoration that is natural, fully functional, and stronger than other types of restorations with a lifespan of 15+ years.
